3D-bioprinting, stem cell culture, neural differentiation, conductive polymers.
Laura Sordini is a 4th year PhD student in Bioengineering – Cell Therapies and Regenerative Medicine at the Instituto Superior Técnico University, under a joint programme between iBB and IT (Instituto de Telecomunicações). She has a Bachelor (2015) and a Master (2018) Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano University, in Milan, Italy. Her work always involved the use of electrical signals and smart conductive polymeric materials for the stimulation and differentiation of stem cells into neural tissue. Her PhD is now focused on the 3D-bioprinting of live stem cells within biocompatible conductive hydrogels with piezoelectric nanoparticles for the wireless stimulation of neural tissue in vitro.
